Hello all,
This is the first in a series of blog posts that will revolve around our trip to Munchen. The original five of Woodsy, Jamie, Kieran, Ollie and myself will be flying from Stansted, four weeks today and we all can't wait to watch the 'new Hertha', who have been revolutionised under Markus Babbel, combining attacking flair with a solid backline, culminating in Hertha's outstanding league position.
As it stands today, Hertha are 3 points clear with 26 points from 10 games. I believe that winning breeds confidence and vice versa, the longer Hertha can stay top maintaining their unbeaten start, keep picking up the wins away from home, the sooner we will be back where we belong.
Until now Hertha have attracted an average home gate of over 40,000 - crowds of this size are testament to the supporters and their belief that Babbel will take them back the top flight at the first attempt. The club and fans are already looking ahead to the eagerly-awaited only second-ever derby game between Hertha and cross-town rivals FC Union Berlin. The Olympic stadium could be sold out for the first- ever visit of Union Berlin, with the exact date and kick off time yet to be announced by the German Football League (DFL). We do know however that the game will be played between Febuary 4th and 7th 2011. The club announced on Wednesday (03.11.10) that 10,000 tickets had already been sold, so the game could be a complete sell out. Union, who hail from the Köpenick district of Berlin. Now, sales to the general public for the return game are on sale and Hertha could be in for a sell out crowd at the Olympic stadium (capacity 74,244). Herth's east stand is already completely sold out, but tickets in all other parts of the ground are still available. HerthaBSC UK will alomost definitely be in attendance for this game, personally, I can't wait for this fixture and also the delicious berliner kindle!. Ticket prices start at only 16 Euros, which again, puts the English Premier League ticket prices to shame.
Plans are in motion for the making of our first touring flag. Design for said flag is basic at the moment, however, it will be brilliant to see the Red and White of St. George flying high in a sea of Hertha Blue and White in the away end of the Allianz Arena. This will be our first away game with Hertha and personally, I couldn't think of a better ground and city to be visiting for the occasion.
Viva Hertha!!

Top post captain Kemp. Loving the Hertha UK on tour flag idea! Think that would go down a treat in the Allianz.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope the unbeaten record is still intact when we get there! Should be a cracker as 1860 are no mugs, I reckon 2-1 hertha with an Adrian Ramos winner!
